PHOTOGRAPHY AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
Around 2016 I was commissioned to shoot some LEGO sets for a magazine specialising in LEGO. This led to further graphic design work and photography, and to even producing a full eight minute stop motion for LEGO to support their Jurassic World release of sets. Please do browse through the material here, which serve as some examples of my work using Photoshop, Blender and macro photography.
STOP MOTION ANIMATION
BACK TO THE FUTURE After getting comfortable working with LEGO in photography and some stop motion tests, some excellent collaborators and I set about recreating this finale sequence from Back To The Future. The video was made over four days at a special show at the Excel London, and edited over several weeks after the show. The resulting animation achieved a moderate viral reception online with multiple sites picking it up. The video would not be possible without an incredible and accurate Hill Valley Clocktower town hall set built solely by Elspeth De Montes.
JURASSIC PARK After the successful reception of the Back To The Future animation, discussions with a LEGO PR team led to them coordinating and supporting the production of a second animation, this time recreating Jurassic Park. This was more successful than the Back To The Future animation, despite the sequence having a more drawn out and tense build up. The effectiveness of it is likely due in part to how well plasticine mud and real water worked with the set, but truly it was down to some further brilliant building work by Elspeth De Montes who designed the buildings, and some genius work by Tim Johnson who designed the cars.
POSTER ART
After being commissioned by Blocks Magazine to create the Rogue One artwork (left) for their Rogue One issue, over time I ended up making recreations of all the posters in the Star Wars series. These were created using macro photography and Photoshop paintbrushes, but in some cases where a particular pose or character was not possible to photograph. I used Blender to work with pre created 3D models and pose and light them to create the desired effect.
MAGAZINE COMMISSIONS Further on from my work above with Blocks Magazine, Brick Fanatics magazine also asked me to create graphics for their issues. Below is some of the other work I have created for both magazines.
